There are many other options for entertainment in Florianopolis. If your visit purpose is not only for surfing and sports or even if you want to take a brake from the activities, below is a list of a few other things that we will be happy to show you in the island.

The city has few Museums, but has a wealth of open-air sites such as the forts, Azorean villages, and rock art archaeological sites. The main archeological sites containing rock art can be found at Ingleses beach, Santinho beach and Campeche Island. The oldest is about 4500 years of age. The Historical Museum of Santa Catarina in the centre is a neo classical building and displays collections of state history.

Brazil is known worldwide for its incredible parties, beautiful people and appreciation for living life passionately and vibrantly. Florianopolis in particular is blessed not only with incredible natural beauty, but also with some of the hottest nightlife in South America, and for that matter, the entire world. Dozens of nightclubs and hundreds of bars are spread through the city, but the central and Lagoa da Conceição areas offer most of the options. You will have a wide variety of rhythms and beats to choose from, going from local Brazilian music to rap, reggae, rock and roll, pop and electronic music. No matter what your plans are for the evening, the city will offer you the best option, always with friendly, warm and beautiful people around.

Enjoy a daytrip aboard a schooner boat around the whole island, where you will visit many historical places such as the natural reserve of Anhatomirim (once a fort to protect the northern entrance to the island. For a shorter trip, the option is in the Lagoa da Conceicao, sailing to a neighborhood (Costa da Lagoa) accessible only by boat where one of the best seafood in the island is served..

It’s a small island situated a few miles of the shore right in front of Campeche beach. For a few dollars you can take a small boat and spend a day in a practically virgin island, snorkeling, hiking, or just enjoying the beach, along with some fish and coconut water served by local fisherman.

Two shopping malls and hundreds of stores in the central area will provide you with anything you need. From surf shops to electronics you will always find a bargain. Hand crafts and souvenirs can also be found everywhere. Florianopolis’ handicraft artists produce ceramic utensils – pots, vases and jugs – and decorative items, representing the folklore, religious feasts and the people of the island. Ceramics, embroidery, and “Floripa” stamped t-shirts are the most popular souvenirs.

If your looking for something not so extreme but still full of adventure, you can hop on a horse and explore the island` s beauty through several trails, sand dunes and beaches. Special rides include full moon picnic on Mocambique beach.
